Sicily, near Ortigia.

We'll be on the island from Saturday 28 August to Monday 6 September: a week of the sea, long dinners and Negronis. Come at the start if you can, and stay for Sunday's beach brunch.

The eyes, chico. They never lie.

So: are you coming?

A day in Ortigia

Most days will go something like this. Rinse and repeat.

  1. 9:30Espresso and a granita, standing at the bar.
  2. 10:30Meet at the rocks. Swim.
  3. 13:30Long lunch by the sea, cold beers.
  4. 16:00Siesta. The whole island naps.
  5. 19:30Negronis (and a martini) as the sun goes down.
  6. 21:00A long dinner, too much wine.
  7. 23:30Bar to bar, and a bit of a party.
  8. Nobody saw anything.
2:00The cheeky pizza on the way home.

What we've planned

We're putting these together for everyone who's with us during the week. Join any or all; we'll ask who's in closer to the time.

Summers so far

None of these are Sicily. They're the summers that got us here, and the mood we're after.

Worth doing early

  1. Check your passport

Turkish passport? Start the Schengen visa in late February. Mexico, US, Canada and UK: no visa.

    Visas and entry
  2. Watch the flights

Late August is peak season. Compare fares with a checked bag; some routes only fly in summer.

    Flights from your city
  3. Book a room on the island

We're about 200 and Ortigia is small. Book something refundable by March 2027.
